Reflection on the sense of the feast leads us to the profound ontology of holiness, thanksgiving, time, memory, liberty and joy. Ukrainian word for the feast is “sviato.” It refers to the holiness of the day. The Russian word “prazdnik” refers to the meaning “to be idle”, e.g. free from all everyday occupations. Church celebrations of the main events of the life of Christ and God’s Mother include joy, grief, work of memory, and service. Church holidays overcome the separation between Christians and anticipate the desired unity.
 
The topics offered for the conference are:
 -         the sense of the Christian holidays
-         holiness of the feast
-         feast as a consecration of time
-         history and eschatology of the feast
-         feast and the Eucharist
-         feast and memory
-         feast and thanksgiving
-         feast and hope
-         feast as unity of earthly and heavenly things
-         “joy-sorrow” (Rus. “radostopechalie”) of the Christian holidays
-         laic and religious holidays
-         the work of celebration
-         feast and reconciliation of the Christians
-         feast, family, and children
